    Aria arrived at Leg Up Farm through a local rescue who thought she would make a great therapy horse based on her gentle demeanor and love of snuggling. Aria is half blind in her left eye, but don’t worry, it doesn’t slow her down one bit. You can find her working with clients in EAP sessions or with some of our able-bodied riders.

  • Abigail

    Abigail (aka Abers) is a rescue horse from Bonded By Strength Equine Rescue. We don’t know her full history, but during her time in foster care, she learned that humans can be kind, gentle and patient with her. Her history and her ability to overcome trauma makes her relatable to the clients who get to work with her in our EAP program.

  • Buzz

    Buzz’s past life consisted of being a carousel pony where he worked A LOT, but that life was no longer for him. Buzz is care-free, silly, and likes to play games with staff. He has an important job to be Kreature's confident friend, to show him what is is like to be a horse, how to be brave, but also he gets to work on being himself.

    Harry arrived to Leg Up Farm as a retired hunter jumper horse. Harry has a big heart and even bigger personality. He loves to be the center of attention and isn’t afraid to say it!     Joey is the definition of small, but mighty. Not only is he the picture perfect pony, but he has the smarts to go with it!   • Kreature

    Kreature came to the Leg Up Farm herd by happenstance, when staff members were looking for a small equine for EAP. Different from horses, mules have the ability to remember, and recall and worry about things that they have experienced. This helps Kreature relate to EAP clients.

    Leo is an off the track thoroughbred (OTTB) who just did not have the need for speed, despite being a relative of Secretariat. Leo is a mellow guy, who loves snuggles and attention. He works mainly as part of the therapeutic horsemanship herd but also participates in EAP sessions with clients.

  • Nickel

    Nickel is a sweet and gentle young mare. Her kind, patient, and loving personality has made her an amazing addition to our herd. Prior to coming to Leg Up Farm, she spent her time on the trails participating in competitive trail riding.     Sam is the official greeter of the barn – giving attention and kisses to everyone who enters the barn. He’s also the barn’s class clown —rearranging obstacles in the arena and blowing raspberries with his lips when he’s bored.     Sully migrated South from just outside New York City, bringing with him a huge personality. Sully sports a mohawk and has a stripe down his back (called a dorsal stripe) that runs from his ears to his tail. When he isn't working with clients, you will find him snuggling passers-by, swindling treats from volunteers or playing with his buddy Sam out in the pasture.

    Trikary came to Leg Up Farm after a long career at Goucher College. Her job there involved lots of jumping, showing, and lessons. Now, Trikary is happy to help students of all experience levels.     Vino arrived at Leg Up Farm after rehabbing from an injury that ended his career as a show horse. He spent his career winning ribbons in the hunter ring and flying over jump courses.   • Wild Night

    Wild Night is the granddaughter of Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew, but did not have a successful racing career like her grandfather. Since arriving at Leg Up Farm, Wild Night has been an active member of our team of EAP horses. Also, she is currently undergoing training to one day help our clients in mounted activities.

  • Phoenix

    Phoenix is a full-size Equestrian Riding Simulator. Phoenix helps instructors make learning safe and fun for riders as they master new skills. Riders to get play with Phoenix in a temperature controlled environment. Phoenix loves long walks on the beach, visiting the zoo, and being a dressage horse. Leg Up Farm is one of the only facilities in the country to have a horse like Phoenix.
